New Toy

I got my first real die cut machine. I got the Tim Holtz Vagabond by Sizzix and I LOVE IT! It is compact, quiet and dose everything I could hope for. I sent a card to my husband and made several cards for others with it all with success.  The possibilities are opened even further for me and I am excited to play with it more. Here are a few cards I have made with it. More to follow as time permits my creativity to come out and play.

Creative Target

I am always asked how I get ideas or how did you come up with that. Today I want to give you an example of where card ideas come from. My answer generally is everywhere but let me give you an example. I shop at Target I was wandering down the gift bag isle and one...or two caught my eye. Like this one:

So I turned the bag into a sketch:

And now the card I made from it.

Doesn't look the same at all anymore. So I take the inspiration and figure out what I like about it (color, layout ect) Then take it down to bare bone components. Look at my tools, in this case star punches. And recreate from there. This sketch then is added to my pile of sketches and when I have enough I bind them in a journal to keep forever. Hope this helps you find inspiration.

Shining Star

I am in love with Sliekje digi stamps. Her artwork is awesome and I plan on making a ton of cards using her stamps. You can find your own stamps here they are free to use. And I will have cards up for sale with featuring her artwork. Here is the latest card I made using her latest stamp. The wings and star shimmer though the scan doesn't show it and the sentiment "Best Wishes" is in blue glitter. This is my favorite card I have made to date. It is making me consider pulling out my pencils and start creating a few digi stamps of my own but that might be for another day.

It has been TOO long!

I know I have been away from the blogging scene for a while but I am BACK! I am going to aim for at least 2 posts a week. I have been card making like crazy and LOVING it. This includes all kinds of paper craft, stamping, cutting, coloring ect. I am creating a collection of cards, boxes, and journals to sell as there is no point in me shelving everything I make. My dear husband is in the Army and so I have lots of uninterrupted craft time both a blessing and a curse. I tell you this so you will not be surprised when you see ALOT of patriotic themed cards. I have some awesome Stampin up military stamps and I love using them. Here take a look at what I have been up too.
Please take a moment to talk to me, leave me a note. See you again soon.
